CARIBBEAN LABORATORY ACCREDITATION SERVICE

OBJECTIVE

The overall objective of this project is to improve regional capacity for the functioning of the Laboratory Accreditation service in a cost effective manner that leverages existing expertise and harmonises processes and procedures, while being internationally recognised. It was proposed that initially particular focus be placed on medical and public health laboratories taking advantage of the human resource development, growing institutional capacity, collaborative networking, and information sources already created by the CARIFORUM project 'Strengthening of Medical Laboratory Services in the Caribbean (SMLS)', funded by the European Union and implemented by the Caribbean Epidemiology Centre (CAREC - 2002-2007). www.c-medlabs.carec.org
